Are anxiety or confusion about your expectations for pregnancy getting the best of you? Schedule a clarity call with Carli and get clear about what empowered pregnancy and birth looks like to you. Together we'll get you on track to create your best birth experience!
I've been married to my lifelong love Ryan for over 14 years and together we are raising our precious children Navy Maya (5) and Willa Paige (3) and Brighton Ryan (6 mo.). All three of our children were born at home, peacefully in the water. Their entrances into this world were the culmination of healthy pregnancies thankfully free from complications, mindful and determined preparation and the tender care of our midwives, whom we wholeheartedly trust. Their births have lit a fire in my heart that will forever burn, to share the good news with as many women who care to listen: we are all strong, capable and deserve to experience empowered birth. We all have the ability to RISE from our labours and births more assured of ourselves than before. The details of the experience will be different for each woman, but the empowerment element is paramount. So much of what I write and share here flows from this deep truth.
Presently, we are fully immersed in this season of raising young children and for all its joy, exertion and growth we are overwhelmingly grateful. Often crisp and colder than warm, we live in and love the Alberta Prairies. What we lack in year round warmth we make up for with big blue skies, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, mountain ranges, rolling wheat fields and blankets of snow. The air is clean and fresh with promise. While we deeply believe home is wherever we are together, we remain grateful for the physical space we call home and try hard not to take for granted its goodness and provision.
WHY I WRITE
I write to catch life as it goes by, so as to honour and preserve it. For me, the contents of time fritter away, becoming heart-achingly intangible if I don't. Writing is an exercise in rehearsing what happens and confirms for me that I was really there for it. That I remember. That I participated. That I am grateful and open-heartedly receiving of the gift of all these moments strung together. If I pay attention, there are lessons to be learned about the joys and challenges of showing up for life vulnerably and wholeheartedly. And in those lessons, I'm finding, are some of the richest and rewarding moments life has to offer.
Beyond their therapeutic affects for me, I hope the words written here echo some truths you've felt in your heart or simply encourage you to lean in: to your intuition, to self compassion, to your path, to your truest self, to your children, your family (both blood and chosen) and to the goodness in life that comes mostly from being present and aware.
